Our Albany Bartending School

Star Bartenders Institute is a New York State Education Department licensed private career school. We offer an intense 40-hour Bartending and Mixology program, along with job placement assistance, open bar practice time, and a variety of other resources.

Our bartending school is located in Troy, New York, an historic city in the state's Capital District. The facilities are modern, and include a real, full bar with 5 stations, a practice area with 8 pouring stations, a comfortable lounge/study area, and all the tools a student will need to learn the trade.

The purpose of our Bartending and Mixology course is to prepare you for a career as a professional bartender. In order to be a professional, confident, and knowledgeable bartender, you must have the experience that comes from learning in a real bar setting. Accordingly, learning this behind a real bar is vital. This is how you will learn the bartending craft at Star Bartenders Institute—behind a real bar.

Moreover, the material that you will be learning, our Bartending and Mixology curriculum, is complete and up-to-date. The different drinks you will learn to make are the ones that are frequently ordered by patrons all around the country. You will be fully prepared to work in many types of establishments, large or small, including bars, pubs, taverns, restaurants, hotels, banquet halls, catering, night clubs, dive bars, sports bars, and resorts, just to name a few. These are just a few examples of what our school has to offer.

Being a successful bartender means having a vast knowledge of every facet of the industry. Specifically, you will learn the following at our school: the tools that are used while bartending, how to open and close the bar, how to work with a point of sale system, the different types of glassware that are used, how to accurately free-pour, the different classifications of liquors and liqueurs, different types of wines and beer, how to build drinks, how to upsell, alcohol awareness and how to serve responsibly, and how to provide excellent customer service.

Further, you will make real drinks with actual liquor, cut real garnishes, and layer real shots. You will then be tested to demonstrate that you understand the course material. Students are allowed to retake the final exam one additional time if necessary. Upon completion of the course you will be issued a certificate by the school.

After graduation, our alumni are able to take advantage of the services that we provide to help them get started with their new career. As your personal mentor, Elda provides assistance with individual job paths, how to hit the pavement running, and gives résumé writing tips, interview tips, and other help as needed not just when you graduate but for life. She teaches you how to be accountable and a go getter.

Star Bartenders Institute will make you a fast, efficient, and professional bartender.
